珠算為傳統商人計算的主要憑藉，也是中國人對「數字運算」「精打細算」的共同認知，因此 台灣省商業會自1946年成立後，首開台灣地區以組織力量推廣珠算的先河，並獲得政府核准辦理各項珠算活動，迄今近80年而不輟。

台灣省商業會在1990年成立珠算振興委員會以來，長期推動國內外各項珠算心算檢定、數學評鑑、幼教推廣，以及海外或大陸地區交流互訪活動，並設計珠算海報、鉛筆等宣傳品，規劃珠算全球資訊網（www.abacus.org.tw）等，提供珠算界相關訊息及宣傳工具，期許將珠心算啟迪腦力智慧、強化邏輯推理、數學運算、加強記憶、鍛鍊意志等多重功能推廣周知。

省商會近年更獲得「技能檢定認證及證書核發」之ISO認證，同時也研究發現，兒童學習珠心算可以啟迪智慧，帶動計算與數學能力，老年人學習也能夠健腦益腦，預防老年失智症。全新的概念讓珠心算在傳統的計算功能外，兼具教育與健康的優越功能，得以開闢新的天地，並透過兩岸交流與國際互動，在世界各個角落傳播，開枝散葉。

Abacus has been the primary tool for traditional merchants and represents the shared cultural recognition among Chinese regarding "numerical operations" and "meticulous calculation." Since its establishment in 1946, the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce pioneered the organized promotion of abacus calculation in Taiwan, becoming the first institution to systematically advocate for it. With official approval from the government, it has consistently organized various abacus-related activities for nearly 80 years.
Since the formation of the Abacus Promotion Committee in 1990, the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce has been actively promoting domestic and international certification exams for abacus and mental arithmetic, mathematics assessments, early childhood education programs, as well as exchange visits with overseas and mainland Chinese organizations. The Chamber has also produced promotional materials such as posters and pencils featuring abacus themes and established the Global Abacus Information Website (www.abacus.org.tw) to provide relevant news and promotional tools for the abacus community. The goal is to widely promote the multiple benefits of abacus and mental arithmetic training, such as enhancing cognitive abilities, strengthening logical reasoning, improving mathematical skills, boosting memory, and developing perseverance.
In recent years, the organization has also achieved ISO certification for " To certify the skill ability and to issue the certificate." Research has shown that learning abacus and mental arithmetic not only stimulates children's intelligence and improves their arithmetic and mathematical skills but also serves as brain training for older adults, helping to prevent dementia. This fresh perspective elevates abacus and mental arithmetic beyond its traditional role, highlighting its value in both education and health. Through cross-strait exchanges and international engagement, abacus culture continues to spread worldwide, flourishing and thriving across continents.
